I'm here to tell your story...the joy, the laughs, the tears, and the memories along the way.
On Friday April 4th, many citizens met at our local Ada Staples Library in Oxbow for a peaceful protest against the 58% provincial government budget cuts to Regional Libraries. DEAR: Drop Everything And Read had every age category drop what they were doing and come to the library and read to show support, here’s what I captured at our local library that day.
As a family who loves to read and participate in the activities our local library has to offer, we are so disheartened by the shocking cuts to library funding that was put forth by the Sask Party and Brad Wall government in their recent 2017 budget. It means the hours at our local library may be cut, programs stopped, we can no longer borrow books throughout the province. We are hoping by bring awareness to this matter that funding is re-worked and some changes made to maintain this facility in our small town!
It was wonderful to see so many local faces out at the DEAR event. Our library is so near and dear to all our hearts in Oxbow and the surrounding areas!
Oxbow and surrounding areas are proud of our library facility and what a sense of gathering, literature, resources and programming it provides for the community. Be sure to share this post & video and send to your local government to show your support of Regional Libraries! #saveSKlibraries #SKlibrariesmatter #librariesmatter
