Midsummer Night’s Dream Inspired Wedding in Calgary

After the pandemic changed Nick and Taryn’s plans of having close friends travel from the United States to be a part of their wedding, they held off till restrictions lifted and in August 2022, they were able to have their complete bridal party together with them on one of the most important days.

I was ridiculously honoured when they asked me to be a part of their day – seriously, it was a big deal for me to serve them on the day that they would get married in Calgary.

Their ceremony took place at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church.  A storm, complete with intense thunder, rolled in while Nick and Taryn committed to their marriage.  Guests said they had never experienced such a dramatic wedding ceremony with the moody storm overhead during the beautiful ceremony.

Just as the storm cleared, we headed to Reader Rock Garden to make all of the couple’s whimsical portraits come true.  We had the most amazing overcast light to capture in one of Calgary’s most picturesque spots.

Nick and Taryn hosted an incredible Celebration at Evergreen Theatre. I loved all the ways these two incorporated their love of theatre into their reception.  From the playbill programs, theatrical play names for each table and a very special first dance as husband and wife…which the couple wrote a song for, pre-recorded it to dance to and then performed together on stage half way through their dance!

What an incredible day with two incredible families that left every single person feeling valued, loved and full or joy. Thank you Nick and Taryn from the bottom of my heart for asking me back to Calgary, to capture your love!
