Hello and welcome to the SMP blog! I'm Starr, a wedding, portrait & lifestyle photographer based in a small Saskatchewan town from where I have been serving clients in Western Canada since 2009. I hope you'll grab a coffee (pumpkin spiced latte if you're me) and enjoy viewing my latest work and getting a little peek into my-far-from-mediocre life!
Jackson and Megan’s wedding took place at their lovely home in Weyburn. Their intimate back yard ceremony was perfect followed by a Gatsby themed reception which may have had some of the most heartfelt wedding speeches.
We arrived and while final preparations were taking place, the cloudy skies rained before the ceremony. Just as Megan was walking down the aisle, the sun came out for their ‘I do’s’.
The bridesmaids wore individual sparkly and beaded flapper dresses in shades of grey, black & white. The groomsmen wore black suits with satin black ties and black vests over white button up shirts. They all looked fabulous, especially the bride in her gown that complimented the Gatsby style beautifully.
One the best parts of the day was bridal portraits. We started at the same location where Jackson and Megan’s engagement photos took place. When these two look at each other, you just know they are meant to be together, they really make a terrific couple!
The reception hall was draped in elegant black fabric and globe lights which was perfect for the gorgeous Gatsby and gold details. Guests were greeted at the entrance by a vintage dresser where the guest book could be signed and cards left. The tables were adorned with gold branch centerpieces, black table cloths, gold glitter table runners and pearl details.
The evening carried on with some of the most heartfelt toasts, first dances and duelling pianos playing into the night.
It was such a treat to kick off my wedding season photographing such a special couple…all the best to you Jackson & Megan!
